Jamshedpur, March 21: In Jamshedpur, a heated controversy has erupted over the illegal encroachment on Tata lease land within the city limits. Allegations have surfaced claiming that certain individuals have unlawfully occupied Tata lease land near the public toilet behind the church near Sitaramdera police station. Local residents have accused Tata Lease officials and employees of being complicit in this encroachment.

Sitaramdera, notably, has witnessed a surge in activism against the unlawful occupation of government land by the tribal community. Representatives from the Ho Samaj, including Anoop Sendi, Sonu Hembram, and Budan Singh Hembram, have formally lodged a complaint with the District Collector regarding this matter.

Furthermore, incidents of illegal occupation extend beyond Sitaramdera. In Sakchi, two shops were reportedly seized without proper authorization. It’s alleged that officials may have colluded in facilitating this occupation. These shops, situated in the Sakchi market, were allegedly handed over to two individuals associated with the Sakchi police station. The circumstances under which these shops were allocated remain unclear.

The allocation of Tata Lease land typically involves a meticulous process overseen by the Appropriate Machinery Committee, chaired by the District Collector. Despite this, concerns have been raised regarding the adherence to established rules in the construction of these shops.

The situation has sparked widespread concern among residents, prompting calls for a thorough investigation into the alleged encroachment and the roles of involved parties.
