Jamshedpur: Faculty members, doctors, Senior Residents and staff of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur accorded emotional farewell to paediatrics head of the department Prof ( Dr) Ajay Raj as he retired after 37 years of service.
Prof Ajay Raj joined MGMMCH on April 4, 1994 and retired on Monday June 30, 2025.
A farewell function was organized in the honour of Prof Ajay Raj. MGMMCH principal Dr Diwakar Hansda and superintendent Dr RK Mandhan on the occasion while felicitating Dr Raj , said that he had remarkable contribution in establishing high standard of treatment and increasing higher educational activities in the institution.
Deputy Prof ( Dr) Jujharu Majhi, Prof Nakul choudhary, HoD medicine Prof Balram Jha, HoD skin Prof AN Jha, HoD orthopaedics Prof Sanga , HoD radiology Prof Besra also recalled contribution of Dr Ajay Raj and highlighted his achievement for institution.
Retired professor Dr Manoj Kumar was chief guest, ex-superintendent Prof Ravindra Kumar, who would be next HoD paediatrics , Prof SL Murmu, Prof, Prof KK Choudhari, Prof Anjani Kumar, Dr N Oraon, doctors, Senior Residents , head nurse Seema were also present in large numbers.
Career of Dr Ajay Raj
Dr Ajay Raj joined MGMMCH in 1994 as Resident Medical Officer (RMO) in paediatrics . He became assistant professor in 2004 and associate professor in 2009. In 2013 he became professor and HoD in 2018.
After completing MBBS from Patna Medical College ( 1976-1982) and MD from Darbhaga Medical College in 1987-89. Earlier in 1988 Dr Ajay Raj got government job through BPSC in 1988.
Prof Ajay Raj also completed National Training of Trainers (TOT) on Facilities- based Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illness (F-IMNCI) at Kalawati Saran Child Hospital, New Delhi.
