Jamshedpur, July 3: The East Singhbhum District Congress Committee, under the leadership of District President Anand Bihari Dubey, staged a protest at the office of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) on Tuesday, expressing strong resentment over the continuous neglect of public grievances.
The Congress delegation had previously sought a meeting with JNAC Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar to discuss urgent civic issues. However, despite a scheduled appointment, the officials reportedly refused to engage with the Congress leaders, citing other engagements. Denied even basic seating arrangements, the delegation, including senior Congress leaders, sat on the ground in protest outside the office.
Following the sit-in, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar emerged from his office and invited the delegation inside. During the meeting, the Congress leaders highlighted the severe conditions in flood-affected and waterlogged areas across Jamshedpur due to heavy rainfall. They demanded immediate cleaning of drains, removal of garbage and sludge, and spraying of bleaching powder and disinfectants to prevent disease outbreaks.
Krishna Kumar assured swift action and ordered an immediate field inspection by officials.
District Congress President Dubey also raised serious concerns regarding similar civic crises in Mango Municipal Corporation areas, citing poor drainage, persistent waterlogging, and lack of sanitation in localities like Baridih Basti, Bhojpur Colony, Nagadungri, Bhuinyadih, Kanhu Bhatta, Slag Road, and Mango’s Old Purulia Road. He emphasized that floodwaters had entered hundreds of homes, creating health hazards and immense distress.
Dubey warned that the Congress party would not remain silent in the face of administrative apathy and would continue to fight for public interest until transparency and accountability were ensured in civic administration.
