Jamshedpur, April 16: A herd of elephants destroyed more than half a dozen houses in Dinai village, Chandil late on Friday night.
Elephants created havoc and also damaged crops. Panicked villagers left their homes soon after they received information that elephants had arrived at the Dinai village.
On Saturday morning the forest officer arrived at the spot and took stock of the situation and the loss incurred and also distributed firecrackers among the villagers.
The residents of the Dinai village were quite angry and showed their frustration on the forest official.
