Electricity charges raised for Durga Puja pandals in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Oct 3: Durga Puja committees will have to pay more for electricity this year because of an increase in electricity charges by 35 paise per unit in non-company areas of Jamshedpur and Kolhan. Last year’s electricity rate was ₹6.30 per unit which has increased to ₹6.65 per unit.

Each puja committee will need to pay ₹100 application fee, ₹512 service connection fee, and daily energy charges based on the per-kilowatt electricity tariff and all connections must be metered.

Electricity GM Ajit Kumar has instructed executive engineers of Jamshedpur and six other divisions in Kolhan including Mango, Ghatshila, Adityapur, Seraikela, Chakradharpur and Chaibasa to ensure skilled workers are hired for safe electrical connections in the pandals.

A control room will be active from Panchami until Dashami to ensure safe electricity supply during Durga Puja. To ensure safety on Dashami, electricity will be halted from noon to midnight and resume only after the magistrate and local police officers issue a joint report and confirm that festivities have concluded safely.
