Elderly woman killed, seven injured in Jaguar-Indigo smash-up at Jamshedpur

Jusco GM Pranay Sinha and businessman Ashok Choudhary’s son among injured

Jamshedpur: A 71 year old woman, identified as Sudha Prasad, died while seven others were injured in a head-on collision between two cars on the Kadma-Dindli road in the wee hours of Saturday.

The deceased was the mother-in-law of Pranay Sinha, general manager of Jusco. Her daughter, Ranjeeta Sinha, along with her husband and driver Michael Jojo, were severely injured in the incident. The passengers of the other vehicle, four in numbers, were also injured. All were taken to Tata Main Hospital.

Sources said the mishap occurred around 1 am when a Tata Jaguar being reportedly driven by Ankit Choudhary (22), son of businessman Ashok Choudhary, rammed into the Tata Indigo Manza of the Sinhas at high speed. Both vehicles were badly crushed in the incident.

Police said Ankit and the other passengers of the Jaguar, Vishesh Dua, Shubham and Ahan Patel, were on their way to Kadma from Dindli Road. Pranay Sinha’s family was returning from a party in Adarshnagar, Sonari, to his residence at 47, Dindli Enclave. His driver was trying to take a turn when the Jaguar reportedly rammed into his car. Local residents took the injured persons to TMH.

Sudha Prasad succumbed to critical injuries around 8 am. Sources said Ashish Choudhary, son of Ashok Choudhary, is about to get married next week. His brother, Ankit, had gone out with his friends in his new Jaguar car purchased from Kolkata.
