Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrated with devotion, grandeur in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Sept 5: The Steel City witnessed an unparalleled display of devotion, unity, and festivity on Friday as Eid Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad, was celebrated with immense zeal and respect. The procession of Jalsa-e-Mohammadi filled the streets with chants of reverence, vibrant tableaux, and the fragrance of flowers, as more than one lakh devotees participated in the historic event.

The main procession, led by Ulema, started from Old Purulia Road in Mango at around 9 am. Devotees, riding cars, bikes, and trucks decorated with flags and banners, filled the air with the chants of “Sarkar ki Aamad Marhaba, Aaka ki Aamad Marhaba.” The convoy moved towards Ambagan Maidan in Sakchi, where a grand congregation was held before proceeding to Dhatkidih Central Ground.

The seven-kilometer journey, which lasted nearly four-and-a-half hours, showcased the spirit of collective devotion. Over 90 vehicles joined the procession, while 125 camps were set up along the route to welcome participants with sherbet, cold drinks, water bottles, and snacks. At more than 40 locations, Beta Langars were organized, offering food to the devotees.

Addressing the congregation at Ambagan Maidan, Mufti Ziaul Mustafa Qadri, a renowned Islamic scholar, reminded the faithful that this year marks 1500 years since Prophet-e-Insaaniyat’s arrival on earth, making the celebration deeply significant. “Islam gives the eternal message of peace. Today, we must pledge to follow the path of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and adopt his Sunnah in our lives,” he said.

Later, at the Dhatkidih Central Ground, Mufti Ziaul Mustafa emphasized the responsibility of parents to impart proper education and moral training to their children. “Many youths go astray due to a lack of guidance. It is our duty to distinguish between good and bad and raise our children with values that benefit both society and the nation,” he remarked.

The programme concluded with Haji Hidayatullah Khan, President of Jharkhand Minority Commission and Executive President of Tanzeem Ahle Sunnat wa Jamaat, reciting soulful Naat Sharif in praise of the Prophet. Religious preachers highlighted various aspects of the Prophet’s life, urging people to follow his message of compassion and harmony.

As the procession passed through Sakchi Roundabout, Straight Mile Road, and Bistupur Jusco Office Roundabout, residents showered flowers from balconies and rooftops. The route was adorned with welcome gates, while beautifully decorated tableaux on trucks depicted Islamic heritage, drawing admiration from onlookers.

In view of the massive gathering, elaborate security arrangements were made. Hundreds of volunteers wearing safety t-shirts and ID cards managed the crowd and controlled traffic alongside the police. Three Jamaats of Jumma Namaaz were held at Dhatkidih Mecca Masjid to accommodate the surge of devotees.

Shops owned by the Muslim community across the city remained closed, following an appeal by the organisers to observe the day with devotion and respect.
