Patna Sahib delegation reviews development work at Sakchi Gurudwara

Jamshedpur, July 7: A significant call was made for the establishment of a Punjabi University in Jamshedpur during a special meeting held at Sakchi Gurudwara Sahib on Sunday. Sardar Suraj Singh Nalwa, President of the Bihar Gurudwara Management Committee at Takht Shri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib, emphasized the urgent need to focus on education and community development.

Addressing the gathering, Nalwa remarked, “We should talk about studies instead of fighting. Education is the foundation that will elevate our community to new heights.” He described the proposal to establish a Punjabi University in Jamshedpur as a historic initiative that would not only spread the light of education among the Sikh community but also inspire the younger generation to build a brighter future. A five-member committee is being formed to give concrete shape to this vision, he announced.

On the same day, a high-level delegation led by Sardar Lakhwinder Singh Lakha, Vice-Chairman of the Bihar State Minority Commission and Deputy Pradhan of the Patna Sahib Management Committee, visited Sakchi Gurudwara Sahib to pay obeisance. The delegation included Sardar Suraj Singh Nalwa, Navjit Singh (Secretary, Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee Eastern India), Tajinder Singh (Joint Secretary), and Parmeet Singh Bagga (Legal Advisor). They bowed their heads in reverence at the gurudwara and reviewed the ongoing development work at the premises.

The delegation met with Nishan Singh, President of the Sakchi Gurudwara Managing Committee, and other senior members. The visitors appreciated the progress of developmental activities under Nishan Singh’s leadership and assured full cooperation for further initiatives. The meeting served as a platform for meaningful discussion on issues of unity within the Sikh community in Jamshedpur. The delegation from Patna Sahib listened seriously to the internal concerns of the local community and urged everyone to put aside their differences for the greater good.

“We should forget our differences and work unitedly for the development of the community,” said Sardar Lakha, underscoring the need for brotherhood and harmony.

The visiting dignitaries were warmly received and honored by the Sakchi Gurudwara Managing Committee. President Nishan Singh, along with General Secretary Shamsher Singh Soni and Trustees Satnam Singh Sidhu, Rabindra Singh, Avtar Singh Furti, Ajaib Singh, Satinder Singh Romi, Satbir Singh Goldu, Sunny Singh Bariyar, Satbir Singh Somu, Ravinder Singh Rinku, Randhir Singh, Jasbir Singh Gandhi, Satnam Singh Ghuman, Tarsem Singh, Balbir Singh, Jaswinder Singh Moni, Amarpal Singh, Arjun Singh Walia, and Baldev Singh Babbu, extended a grand welcome to the delegation. Earlier in the day, Sardar Suraj Singh Nalwa, Parmeet Singh Bagga, and other members of the delegation visited the residence of Sardar Inderjit Singh, General Secretary of Takht Shri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib, to offer condolences on the passing of his mother. They spent time with the grieving family and offered their support and prayers.

Former Naujwan Sabha President Satbir Singh Somu appealed to members of the Sikh community and local organizations wishing to meet the visiting delegation to contact Sardar Lakhwinder Singh Lakha at the Jamshedpur Parishad. Lakha is currently on a two-day visit to the city.

The initiative to establish a Punjabi University in Jamshedpur, discussed during the meeting, is being seen as a crucial step not only for the Sikh community but for the broader educational and cultural development of the region. The visit has reignited hopes of greater cooperation, unity, and progress within the community.
