Education officers arrested accepting bribe of Rs 5000 in Noamundi

Jamshedpur, Aug 13: In yet another action by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), two senior education department officials were arrested accepting bribe at the BRC Bhawan under Noamundi Block of West Singhbhum. �

The team arrested the Block Education Extension Officer (BEEO) Ganga Prasad Sinha and CRP Zaheer of Jetia area red handed for accepting Rs 5000 as bribe from a teacher. The team has also seized rs 28,000 cash from the accused.

According to information, BEEO Ganga Prasad had demanded a bribe from Manish Oraon, teacher of Dudhbila High School for making attendance.

ACB Jamshedpur was informed about the demand of bribe by teacher Manish Oraon. On Thursday, the ACB team from Jamshedpur reached Noamundi and the officer was caught red handed while taking bribes.

ACB’s team, Block Education Extension Officer Ganga Prasad Sinha and CRP Zaheer were arrested on the spot.

“After we received a written complaint, we took a bundle of currency notes provided by the teacher and smeared them with a chemical.  We had also instructed the complainant a specific time for visiting the office.  As the complainant handed over the bundle to the accused, a team of ACB which was ready outside entered the office and asked the accused to dip his fingers in a glass of water.  As soon as he dipped the fingers, the water in the glass turned red.  Soon we took him under our custody,” said a member of the team.
