ED raids Jharkhand Finance Minister Rameshwar Oroan’s son in liquor case

Ranchi: As part of a significant crackdown, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday searched numerous locations connected to Rohit Oraon, the son of Jharkhand Finance Minister Rameshwar Oroan. In addition to this, other locations were raided by the central investigative agency as part of a money laundering inquiry involving a purported liquor scam in the state.
Since the father and son share a home, the senior Oraon’s property is being protected by the CRPF. According to them, the investigation is being carried out in accordance with the PMLA’s guidelines.
Rameshwar Oraon, 76, represents Lohardagga (ST) constituency in the state Assembly, which he won on the Congress ticket. In the Jharkhand government, he is in charge of Finance, Planning, and Commercial Taxes departments.
Rameshwar Oraon, a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1972 batch, previously served as a minister in the Union Cabinet under the leadership of the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. According to the sources, the current inquiry is being carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
