Youth beaten to death in Chatra for affair with minor girl of different caste

Chatra: Police arrested eight people for allegedly beating an 18-year-old youth to death at Salaiya village under Genjana panchayat of Huntergunj block in Chatra district on Sunday night. The youth was beat to death for allegedly having an affair with a minor girl belonging to another caste, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Avinash Kumar said.
A woman relative, who accompanied the youth, was also severely thrashed and is undergoing treatment in a hospital at Gaya of Bihar. Her condition is stated to be critical. According to Kumar, Kundan Kumar, who worked in Delhi, was having an affair with a minor girl from the Salaiya village. After the girl’s family came to know about their relationship, they planned to kill Kundan.
The girl was made to call Kundan and ask him to come to the village from Delhi. Kudan’s father Pramod Bharti said his son left Delhi on August 15 but didn’t return home. On Monday, Kundan was found lying in a pool of blood on a village road. Police said Kundan went to meet the girl with his relative, Gaila Devi. Police, however, didn’t make it clear where the youth was between August 15 and Sunday.
The SDPO said Kundan and Gaila were severely beaten up with sticks when they went to meet the girl. He was declared brought dead at Huntergunj hospital. Later, police formed a team and arrested eight people on Monday night. The police officer also said they also visited the visited and recorded the statement of the minor girl.
