ED questions Jail Administration under pressure: Jailer Naseem Khan unable to provide clear answers

Ranchi, Nov 8: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) interrogated Birsa Munda jail jailer Naseem Khan on Wednesday, regarding allegations of conspiring against ED officers.

The ED raised inquiries about the provision of mobile phone facilities to inmates facing money laundering charges, the suppression of letters written by prisoners concerning the activities of Prem Prakash and other suspects, and the deletion of CCTV footage within the jail. Jailer Naseem Khan struggled to offer definitive responses to the ED’s queries. The ED is set to question Hotwar Jail Jail Superintendent Hamid Akhtar on Thursday.

On November 7, the ED had previously questioned the jail’s Bada Babu Danish, who stands accused of communicating with witnesses using a mobile phone while incarcerated.

Following this, the statement of jailer Naseem Khan was recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Section 50. During the ED’s interrogation, the jailer confessed to obtaining an arms license, revealing that the Jail Superintendent and Jailer had issued the license at the behest of Prem Prakash.
