Ranchi: State Election Commission (EC) has approved the proposal of district administration to give compensation of Rs 20 lakh each to the next of kin of the eight persons killed in the Naxalite attack in Shikaripara police station area of Dumka on 24th April last.
The proposal was sent to the EC by the district administration to make sure that no violation of Model Code of Conduct takes place. The compensation will be given to the next of kin of five police jawans and three polling officers who were killed in a landmine explosion triggered by Naxalites in Shikaripara at the conclusion of last phase of Lok Sabha polls in the state.
