East Singhbhum crowned overall champion at 17th Jharkhand Elite Boxing Championships

Jamshedpur, November 21: The 17th Jharkhand State Elite (Men & Women) Boxing Championships 2024-25 concluded with a grand closing ceremony at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. The event, organised by Tata Steel UISL in association with the Jharkhand Boxing Association, showcased exceptional boxing talent from across the state over two days of intense competition.

The closing ceremony was graced by Mukul Vinayak Chaudhuri, Chief, Sports, Tata Steel along with Devi Prasad Panthala, Chief Divisional Manager, Tata Steel UISL, Vibhuti Dhand Adesara, Head Sports, Tata Steel; Anand Bihari Dubey, Secretary, Jharkhand Boxing Association; Deepak Shrivastava, Vice President, Jharkhand Boxing Association and Head Administration, OMQ; and Rajib Verma, Treasurer, Jharkhand Boxing Association.

The championship featured 113 participants across Men’s and Women’s categories, representing 15 districts of Jharkhand. A total of 79 matches were held, including those on the first day. After two days of electrifying bouts, the final matches concluded with 13 gold, 13 silver, and 25 bronze medals awarded in the Men’s Category, and 6 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze medals in the Women’s Category. East Singhbhum emerged as the overall champion among the districts in both categories. The winners and runners-up in each category were honored during the closing ceremony, where medals and certificates were presented to celebrate their achievements.

The championship reaffirmed Tata Steel UISL’s dedication to fostering sports culture in the region, strengthening its partnership with the Jharkhand Boxing Association to elevate local talent to national and international levels.
