East Singhbhum beats Giridih in 22nd Jharkhand State Ball Badminton Championship

Jamshedpur, Dec 16: The 22nd Jharkhand State Ball Badminton Championship commenced at Telco Nepal Building Ground on December 15. Tata Motors Workers Union President Gurmeet Singh and General Secretary RK Singh inaugurated the even.

The ceremony was attended Guest of Honor Ritu Kashyap, a teacher at Hill Top School. Both Gurmeet Singh and RK Singh shared valuable insights and techniques about the game, emphasizing its significance. Ritu Kashyap also provided additional information about the sport.

The event was further graced by international player Birendra Kumar Mishra, senior national player Shakuntala Kumari, and junior national player Raveena Sardar.

The championship began with a match featuring a ball badminton demonstration by the chief guests. Other notable attendees included K Rama Krishna (Organizing Secretary), former Vice President K Ram Mohan Rao, and several former players and officials.

In the men’s category, the first match saw Saraikela defeated West Singhbhum 36-34, followed by West Singhbhum’s victory over Saraikela 35-26, and Saraikela won the third set 35-30. The second match between Giridih and Jamtara was a close contest, with Giridih defeating Jamtara 35-28, followed by a 35-21 win for Jamtara, and Giridih clinching the final set 35-33.

The third match between East Singhbhum and Giridih saw Giridih winning the first set 35-32, East Singhbhum coming back to win the second set 35-31, and finally, East Singhbhum clinching the third set 35-27.

In the women’s category, Dhanbad triumphed over Giridih 36-34, 35-29. Jamtara defeated West Singhbhum 35-33, but West Singhbhum bounced back, winning the second set 39-37 and the third set 35-30. Saraikela won both sets against East Singhbhum 38-36, 35-33, while West Singhbhum won both sets against Giridih 35-31, 37-35.

The winners of this championship will represent Jharkhand at the Senior National Ball Badminton Championship.
