In the workshop, experts shared information through presentations and short films about the ill-effects of drug addiction, physical-mental problems as well as its perverse effects in the society, and the drug-free India campaign with the public personally.

On this occasion, the winners of the drawing competition organized on the topic of de-addiction were felicitated. In this competition Phuleshwari Munda of Jharkhand Girls Residential School, Gudabanda got first, Lakshmi Devi Hembram, student of KGBV Potka second and Pratima Soren of KGBV Ghatshila got third position.

Along with this, the Deputy Commissioner started a signature campaign to make this fight against drugs more widespread.

Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav said that in today’s time drug abuse has not become a problem of individual or any one family but a social problem, so we all have to fight together.

She said that it is often seen or read in the news that the police have raided the border areas of Jamshedpur or even in settlements and caught drug peddlers. Jamshedpur is becoming a big consumer market for drug addiction where youth are falling prey to it. It is an industrial city, people have good income as compared to other places but it also has side effect, children have money so they come in contact with drug peddlers roaming around the school and adopt drug addiction.

She appealed that there have been many new forms of drug abuse, in such a situation, parents should also pay special attention to the activities and mental changes of their children, so that the child can be stopped before moving towards drugs or in the first stage itself.

The Deputy Commissioner said that along with administration, police administration, judicial administration, everyone’s cooperation is also expected from the common citizens in making drug free India campaign successful.

At the same time, after holding a meeting with the parents, it was said that they should be informed about the feelings of the administration.

Sub-Divisional Officer Dhalbhum Piyush Sinha said that only administrative and police action against drug peddlers will be insufficient unless every citizen as a society raises voice against it. He appealed to inform the nearest police station or district administration officials if there is any drug peddler.
