Tight security arrangements in place for Akhara procession

Jamshedpur, March 25: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav and Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar convened a meeting with the members of Central Peace Committee and Ramnavami Akhara Committees of the city ahead of Ramnavami here at Town Hall, Sidhgora, on Saturday. They heard the grievances of the committee members and appealed to them to extend full support and cooperation to the district administration in ensuring peaceful conduct of Ramnavami procession across the district.
The DC said that the Akhara committees that had not yet taken permission to take out procession must get registered at the SDM office and take out the procession only after obtaining the procession license from the police administration. “Apply for a license at the police station. Along with the application, provide the names and phone numbers of 10 responsible persons of the concerned Akhara committee. No deviation from the old route chart would be allowed in any manner,” she said.
All Akhara committees are requested to cooperate with the district administration in identifying anti-social elements. Celebrate festivals by using traditional musical instruments instead of DJ or pre-recorded songs. As far as demands for cleanliness, drinking water, road repair, dilapidated electric pole repair, pruning of tree branches are concerned, the concerned officials have been directed to take necessary measures,” said the DC.
The DC said feedback was being sought from various Akhara committees and peace committees to ensure peaceful celebration of Ramnavami across the district.
The SSP said that there will be 24X7 monitoring on social media. He said any posts or news should be forwarded only after careful consideration of its pros and cons. All precautionary measures are being taken by the police administration to ensure smooth celebration of Ramnavami. Citizens should apprise senior district administration officials of any important incident or information, he said.
The SSP said the Ramnavami procession should be completed by 8 pm and they should follow the route already fixed by the district administration. He said drones, CCTVs and video recording would ensure that no one tampers with the law and order during the procession. The meeting was attended by all senior district and police officials.
