Drizzle and strong wind bring relief from heat in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 12: The weather in Kolhan, including Jamshedpur, took an unexpected turn as a result of a cyclonic circulation formed in parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar, along with a trough line moving towards Jharkhand via the North-West Bay of Bengal. In the afternoon, the sky became cloudy, and at quarter to four, the region experienced drizzling accompanied by strong winds. The Meteorological Department had issued a partial warning with thunder and lightning for West Singhbhum district of Kolhan at 1.58 pm. Shortly after, at 2.39 pm, a warning of partial rain with strong surface winds was issued for East Singhbhum district. Within an hour of these warnings, the weather underwent a rapid transformation.

The rainfall brings much-needed relief from the scorching heat for the residents who have been enduring high temperatures in Jamshedpur. Over the past week, the temperature had consistently remained above 41 degrees Celsius. On June 7th, the temperature soared to 41.3 degrees Celsius, followed by 43.6 degrees Celsius on June 8th, 43.4 degrees Celsius on June 9th, 42.9 degrees Celsius on June 10th, and 43.2 degrees Celsius on June 11th. Even by noon on Monday, the temperature had remained above 42 degrees Celsius. However, with the arrival of a cloudy sky in the afternoon and the subsequent drizzle at 4 o’clock, there was a noticeable drop in temperature. According to the Meteorological Department, the upcoming days will bring a mix of sunshine and intermittent clouds. Monday morning saw a sunny start, resulting in less pedestrian activity on the roads. However, the weather’s mood changed in the afternoon, offering much-needed respite from the heat.
