Jamshedpur, Dec. 24: The 28th annual flower show cum Horticulture Exhibition-2016 began at Gopal Maidan on Saturday, December 24.
The theme of the show this year is �Conservation of Biodiversity�.
The Jamshedpur Flower Show was inaugurated by Dr. Nitin Kulkarni, IAS, Secretary, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Co-operative department, Govt. of Jharkhand together with Sunil Bhaskaran, vice president, Tata Steel, Ruchi Narendran, chairperson, Horticultural Society, Jamshedpur, Baren Maity, secretary of Horticultural Society of Jamshedpur and others.
The event which is an integral part of Jamshedpur Fest houses exhibits on Bio diversity, flowers, Bonsai, Vegetables, Soil less culture, landscaping with potted plants, innovative landscape and garden feature products and technical sessions on Bio diversity and garden related activities by subject matter specialists. Cultural fiesta will be organized during the evening till December 27, the concluding day of the show.
The flower show is hosting a huge participation from all across the country of flower lovers, farmers, retailers, landscapes, importers, exporters, traders in planting material, fertilizers, pesticides, garden tolls, spraying equipments, auto irrigation system manufacturing and installation company.
The technical workshop sessions will be organized on 25 and 26 December. A sit and draw competition for school children will be held at Gopal Maidan from 9 am on Sunday, December 25.
Exhibits will be judged by eminent horticultural specialists from across the country. Competition arena has been divided into two parts- Amateur and Institutions.
There is a special display arena in line with the theme �Conservation of Biodiversity� with a focus to create awareness amongst the citizens of Jamshedpur about the importance of biodiversity and preserving the ecological balance between nature and mankind.
TV Narendran, MD, Tata Steel will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony on December 27.
