Dr. Arun Jha named legal adviser to Veterinary Association of India

Jamshedpur, Sept 11: The Veterinary Association of India (VAI), the national professional body of veterinarians, has appointed advocate and animal rights activist Dr. Arun Kumar Jha as its Honorary Legal Adviser.

Dr. Jha, the president of the Jharkhand Animal Welfare Society (JAWS), has long been recognised for his legal expertise and commitment to animal rights and social causes. The appointment, which carries no financial remuneration, was made in recognition of his professional standing, integrity, and lifelong dedication to animal welfare.

The decision was unanimously approved by the Executive Committee of VAI. In a statement, Chairman Dr. Rajesh Kumar Singh said the association deeply values Dr. Jha’s leadership and tireless activism. “His guidance will help us strengthen veterinary services, safeguard animal welfare, and contribute to public health and national development,” the statement noted.

VAI emphasised that sound legal advice and compassionate advocacy are essential as the organisation expands its activities nationwide. The honorary role will focus on supporting the association in matters relating to veterinary services, animal protection, and policy development.

The Veterinary Association of India represents veterinarians across the country and works to advance the profession while enhancing its contribution to animal welfare, public health, and national progress.
