Police officials rewarded for nabbing dreaded Maoist
Jamshedpur, Nov. 6 : Director General of Police ( DGP), DK Pandey on Monday held a meeting with the senior police officials at Chaibasa, the district headquarters of West Singhbhum district. At the meeting, he reviewed the anti-naxal operation in the district and took an account of exactly how the dreaded CPI-Maoist leader, Motilal Soren alias Sandeep was arrested from Jatia police station area in the district on November 1.
During the meeting, DIG (Kolhan) Saket Kumar Singh, superintendents of police all the three districts attended the meeting. As a reward of Rs 25 lakh was declared by the Jharkhand police on Sandeep, the DGP paid Rs 2.5 lakh as reward to those police officials as well as constables due to whose effort the dreaded naxal leader could be arrested. The monetary reward will be divided among the policemen participated in operation to nab Sandeep.
The DGP also gave commendation certificates to the cops concerned for the arrest of the top rebel leader.
Sources revealed that during the review meeting discussions were held on a number of issues, all pertaining to anti-naxal operations. Pandey was learnt to have given directives to his subordinates as to how to go about for operations in Singhbhum and South Chhotanagpur region, where rebels make use of landmines the most.
He urged the policemen to remain alert as the rebel outfits reply more on guerrilla tactics and can attack anywhere anytime. He said that the idea is to work in much efficient manner and curb the criminal activities across the state.
The DGP said that the state police authority have to enhance the intelligence gathering mechanism soon. �I have come up with some important suggestions and asked them to improve on gathering information after all we are here to serve the society and it cannot be possible without improving on our part and winning confidence,� said DGP.
He said that the police and para-military forces have worked tremendously to curb the Naxal activities in naxal-infested areas. �Operation against naxalites were carried out effectively and in bordering areas particularly with Bengal and we need to be more vigilant on our side,� he noted.
