Sachin and Yash doubles lift Vani Vidya Mandir, Jusco School in RFYS football

Jamshedpur: Riding on two goals by Sachin Layak, Vani Vidya Mandir coasted to a 3-0 victory over St Mary’s English High School in a senior boys’ league match of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football tournament here on Monday.

After a barren first half at the Tinplate Sports Complex Stadium, Sachin gave Vani Vidya Mandir the breakthrough soon after resumption scoring two goals in three minutes. His first came in the 33rd minute and second in the 36th minute. Teammate Hopna Tudu scored in the 39th minute to seal St Mary’s fate.

In another senior boys league match at the same venue, Sant Nandlal Smiriti Vidya Mandir, Ghatsila and Shyama Prasad Inter College (Jamshedpur) played out a 1-1 draw. The closely fought match came alive in the second session after a goalless first session. Vishal Mardi put Nandlal ahead in the 48th minute but Shiv Charan Murmu scored the equaliser a minute later for Syama Prasad. Thereafter there were no more goals and the 1-1 scoreline remained until the end.

In another closely fought match, Jusco School-South Park edged past Kerala Public School, Gamharia 2-1 at the same venue. Jusco School took an early lead when Yash Bhargav scored in the 3rd minute and backed it up with his second goal in the 34th minute. KPS fought back with a Rajeev Mahato goal in the 46th minute but the Jusco lads firmed up their defence and did not allow any further lapses.

Results- Senior boys (league): Kerala Public School (Morning) bt Andhra Association English School 2-0; Vani Vidya Mandir bt St Mary’s English School 3-0; Jusco School-South Park bt Kerala Public School, Gamharia 2-1, Sant Nandlal Smiriti Vidya Mandir, Ghatsila drew with Shyama Prasad Inter College,Jamshedpur 1-1.
