Special prayers held at Sakchi Gurudwara to mark Bhai Taru Singh Ji’s martyrdom and Miri-Piri Diwas
Jamshedpur, July 16: Sawan Sangrand was celebrated with religious fervour at Sakchi Gurudwara Sahib on Thursday, where a special Kirtan Darbar was organised to mark the beginning of the holy month of Sawan. The programme was dedicated to the immortal martyrdom of Bhai Taru Singh Ji and Miri-Piri Diwas associated with Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji.
The celebrations began with the recitation of Gurbani and the singing of the Shabad, “Sawan Sarsi Kamani, Charan Kamal Siu Piar, Man Tan Rata Sach Rang Eko Naam Adhar.” Melodious Gurbani Kirtan was presented by the Sukhmani Sahib Kirtani Jatha, followed by devotional hymns rendered by the Sikh Stree Satsang Sabha, Sakchi. Gurbani Kirtan was also performed by Hazuri Ragi Bhai Narayan Singh Ji, while Bibi Ravinder Kaur captivated the congregation with soulful renditions.
Religious discourse was delivered by Gurudwara Granthi and Kathavachak Bhai Amritpal Singh Ji. The supreme sacrifice of Bhai Taru Singh Ji was highlighted, and the significance of Miri-Piri was explained. It was stated that Miri represents temporal responsibility, while Piri signifies spiritual leadership, emphasising that worldly authority should always remain guided by righteousness.
A community Langar was served to the devotees, where Kheer, Malpua, Dal, Phulka and vegetable dishes were distributed as Prasad.
Among those present were Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib General Secretary Inderjit Singh, Chanchal Singh Bhatia and Kulwant Singh Bunty. Sakchi Gurdwara Management Committee president Nishan Singh thanked the devotees for their overwhelming participation and said such occasions inspire people to uphold the values of Sikhism, protect righteousness and serve humanity.
