Jamshedpur East MLA urges eco-friendly Raksha Bandhan

Purnima Sahu appeals to support local artisans, use Speed Post and send Rakhis to soldiers

Jamshedpur, July 16: An appeal for celebrating an eco-friendly and meaningful Raksha Bandhan was made by Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu on the occasion of the festival. It was said that Rakhi is not merely a thread but a sacred symbol of love, trust and protection.

A call was made to the people of Jamshedpur, residents of Jharkhand and especially sisters to support the vision of an “Atmanirbhar Bharat” by choosing locally made Rakhis. It was suggested that handmade eco-friendly Rakhis should be prepared and sent to brothers. If Rakhis are purchased, preference should be given to those made by local artisans and women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs), so that support can be extended to local families.

The use of the Department of Posts was also encouraged for sending Rakhis. It was stated that the warmth and emotions attached to a Rakhi could be better conveyed through Speed Post than through online services.

Special attention was also drawn towards the country’s armed forces. Sisters were urged to send Rakhis to soldiers deployed on the nation’s borders as a gesture of gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

It was emphasised by the MLA that the true essence of Raksha Bandhan is reflected through personal touch, emotional connection and support for local communities while honouring the nation’s brave soldiers.
