Devotion and celebration mark Mehndi Festival at Sakchi Shiv Mandir

Jamshedpur: In a vibrant display of devotion, women gathered at Sakchi Shiv Mandir on Thursday to celebrate the Mehndi Festival, a prelude to the 36th Shri Shri Shyam Mahotsav set to take place on Saturday, February 8. The event, organized by the temple committee’s women’s team, saw devotees applying mehndi with the name ‘Shyam’ in the temple premises.

From 11 am to 8 pm, women adorned their hands with intricate mehndi designs, writing ‘Shyam’ as a mark of their devotion. They also decorated two large religious symbols representing Baba Shyam and Balaji, inscribed with “Jai Shri Ram” and “Jai Shri Shyam,” which will be carried at the forefront of the grand procession on the festival day.

The celebration continued into the evening with bhajans and kirtans on the temple’s first floor, beginning at 6 pm. Women danced with devotion, playing Holi with flowers as an offering to Baba Shyam. The bhajan session commenced with Shri Ganesh Vandana, filling the temple with spiritual fervor. “It was a mesmerizing experience filled with devotion and joy,” said Nisha Singhal, one of the participants.

The event was made successful by the dedicated participation of Uma Chettani, Pooja Modi, Meetu Agarwal, Neha Agarwal, Jyoti Agarwal, Sushila Sanghi, Khushboo Agarwal, Asha Agarwal, Seema Saparia, Anshu Chaudhary, Bindiya Naredi, Pooja Agarwal, Prerna Sharma, Mamta Agarwal (Telco), Mini Shah, Manish Agarwal, Nidhi Modi and Sanjana Agarwal.

With preparations now complete, anticipation builds for the Shri Shri Shyam Mahotsav, which promises to be a spiritually uplifting and grand celebration.
