Jamshedpur: Acting on the instructions of Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy, members of the recently constituted Jan Suvidha Samiti conducted a surprise inspection of ward numbers 8, 9, and 10 in Mango on Thursday. The purpose of the inspection was to assess the sanitation conditions and verify the presence of sweepers employed by contractors under the Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC). What they found was alarming—there was a significant gap between the number of sweepers supposed to be working and the actual workforce present on duty.
According to the committee’s findings, a total of 292 sweepers had been appointed across the three wards. However, only 187 were found to be present, while a staggering 105 were absent. The situation was similar across all wards. In Ward No. 8, out of 59 appointed sweepers, only 53 were present, while 42 were absent. In Ward No. 9, 67 out of 102 sweepers were found at work, with 35 missing. In Ward No. 10, out of 95 sweepers, only 67 were present, while 28 were absent. The inspection revealed that multiple private contractors, including Tarang Enterprises, JSR Enterprises, Prasad Enterprises, PK Enterprises, Sai Krupa Enterprises, NS Construction, Sonal Enterprises, Sanjay Sharma, Vinay Chaudhary, Arvind Enterprises, Sejal Enterprises, Raunak Enterprises, Siddhi Enterprises, Maa Vindhyavasini Enterprises, and SK Enterprises, were failing to ensure full deployment of their workforce, leading to a severe sanitation crisis in Mango.
Upon receiving these findings, MLA Saryu Roy immediately reported the issue to the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum. Expressing his concerns, he emphasized that public funds allocated for sanitation were being misused and misappropriated, leading to deteriorating cleanliness standards in Mango. He demanded strict action against those responsible for the mismanagement within the Municipal Corporation, stressing that such negligence could not be ignored any longer. “This is a blatant misuse of public funds. The money meant for sanitation is being wasted, and corruption within the Municipal Corporation cannot be ruled out. Those responsible must be held accountable,” said MLA Roy.
Residents of Mango have long been complaining about poor sanitation, with garbage accumulation, clogged drains, and unhygienic conditions making life difficult. Many locals have expressed their frustration, urging the administration to take immediate corrective measures. The Jan Suvidha Samiti has recommended that the Municipal Corporation enforce stricter monitoring of cleaning staff, ensure proper workforce deployment, and hold contractors accountable for their negligence.
The inspection team included Neeraj Singh, Pappu Singh, Santosh Bhagat, Pintu Singh, Binod Singh, Prem Saxena, Chetak Singh, Bala Prasad, Ajay Sharma, and Ambika Pandey, among others. As the sanitation crisis deepens, the citizens of Mango await swift action from the administration, hoping that their city will finally receive the cleanliness and hygiene services it deserves.
