Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh – a city based parents’ outfit led by its president Dr. Umesh Kumar on Monday took out a candle light march protesting against the overloading by the school vans and auto rickshaws. Parents in large number attended the march and urged the administration to help start the bus service in the school at the earliest so that the children going to schools are safe.

The candle light march began from Sakchi roundabout which traversed through Garamnala roundabout before ending at DC office.

Dr. Umesh Kumar said, it has been ten years since the sangh has been demanding bus service in schools but every time the school management comes up with an excuse and entangle the issue which has forced the school students to commute by private vans and auto rickshaws which has led to several accidents.

He further said that the main sufferers are the parents and the students as vans and auto rickshaws flout the safety norms and indulge in overloading.

The agitating parents blamed the administration for being lenient with private schools, which refused to start bus services and thereby forced parents to bank on rogue auto-rickshaw and van drivers.

‘Several of the children have been killed in road mishaps and when the administration tries to grill the auto and van operators they indulge in unhealthy practice. Several incidents of eve teasing and rape attempt have come to light’, added Kumar.
