Jamshedpur, Oct 31: Thirty five TAYO employees who wanted to meet Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran at the Tata Workers Union office were not only prevented from doing so but were arrested and made to sit it out at the Jugsalai police station and later released. The TAYO employees were arrested from the vicinity of G Town Ground at N Road in Bistupur and taken to Jugsalai police station.

The TAYO employees said that they were going to meet the Tata Group Chairman to welcome him and apprise him of their problems but the police arrested them and thus prevented them from meeting N Chandrasekaran. TAYO Sangharsh Samiti Convener Ajay Sharma said that the Tata Steel management did not want them to meet the Chairman and inform him of the factual situation.
Sharma said, With the closure of TAYO Rolls the employees numbering around 450 are starving. The Company was closed down in October, 2016 on the plea that it was running at a loss. The case related to the closure of the Company has been lodged in the Jharkhand High Court. The High Court has sought a reply from the Advocate General that even in spite of the government ordering against the TAYO Rolls Companys closure, how did the management shut it down? How will the Company reopen? How will the payments of the employees be met? Will the state government take over the Company? How will the Company be revived?
The process of insolvency is on at the NCLT Kolkata bench.
TAYO Sangharsh Samiti accused the management of deliberate closure of the Company under Sec 10 in the guise of insolvency so that the 350 acre land allotted to Tata Steel could be taken over by them. The Samiti has demanded that the land allotted to Tata Steel should be taken over by TAYO Rolls and the management be handed over to such an industrial house that would revamp the Company and set the machines rolling again.
