Jamshedpur: Former MP and senior Congress leader Dr. Ajoy Kumar has praised the India Alliance government for its landmark decision to issue caste certificates based on local investigation. He stated that this move will benefit millions of people across the state. Dr. Kumar expressed special thanks to Chief Minister Hemant Soren for addressing this long-standing issue.
Dr. Kumar highlighted that in urban areas, the issuance of caste certificates for SC, ST, and backward communities had been stalled due to the unavailability of land documents, causing significant difficulties for the people. He had raised this issue in a letter to the Chief Minister and personally discussed its seriousness. Acknowledging the concerns, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had assured that a solution would be found, and now the government has issued a notification allowing caste certificates to be issued based on local verification through the zonal office.
Dr. Kumar emphasized that this decision will prove to be a milestone for the state. By simplifying the process, youth applying for jobs and students seeking school or college admissions will no longer face hurdles in obtaining their caste certificates. The decision brings much-needed relief to SC, ST, and other backward communities.
“This is undoubtedly a historic and public-friendly decision,” Dr. Kumar remarked, adding that it will greatly enhance the ease of access to important documents for many marginalized groups.
