Jamshedpur, June 22: In a shocking incident, bodies of twin new born babies were found from a dustbin behind the state-owned MGM Medical College Hospital under Sitaramdera police station area on Thursday morning. The bodies of the twin baby boys appeared to have been born previous night.
According to information a rag-picker first spotted the bodies at the dustbin at around 7 am and soon the news started spreading. Locals, including women rushed to the spot to have a look at the dead new borns. As the news reached the local police, a team from the Sitaramdera police station arrived at the spot and recovered the bodies.
Officer-in-charge, Sitaramdera police station, Rameshwar Oraon confirmed about the recovery of bodies of two new-born babies.
“We are investigating about the dead babies. The bodies were that of new-born twin baby boys. It seems that the babies were born out of illicit relationship and their mother or someone related to the woman might have dropped them at the dustbin after they were born sometime in the night,” said Oraon.
The officer-in-charge said they do not know whether the babies were alive at the time they were dropped at the dust-bin, but they have registered a case of murder against unknown woman before sending the bodies to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.
Ashok Kumar Singh, superintendent, MGM Medical College Hospital said they have been informed about the incident nut the bodies of twin new-born babies which were found behind their hospital have nothing to do with the medical college hospital.
“We do not have any report of twin babies taking birth at our hospital in recent past. The babies might have born somewhere else and the bodies might have been dropped after the woman or someone very close to her near the hospital,” said Singh.
