DC seeks help of political parties for Special Summary Revision 2017

Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar has appealed to the representatives of various political parties active in the district to extend cooperation to the administration in the revision of electoral rolls.

Addressing a meeting of political party representatives at his office on Friday, the DC said the political parties should assist the election department in removing and adding names of voters to the voters� list with the help of their booth level representatives.

In the meeting, the participants were informed about various forms such as Form 6, Form 7, Form 8 and Form 8A and asked to disseminate the information among the people so that they may avail the benefit of the electoral revision campaign. The representatives of political parties were given electoral list of all booths and printouts of related data by the district administration.

Jharkhand election department has launched Special Summary Revision 2017, a campaign to rectify and amend the electoral rolls to include new voters who have attained the age of majority.

The DC said the names of new voters who are going to attain the age of 18 years by 1st January 2017 will be added to the electoral list. The final electoral list will be published on 16th January 2017.

As per administration sources, there are a total of 1653518 voters in East Singhbhum while the total number of polling booths in the district is 1885.

The DC said that a special campaign was being run to include the names of voters belonging to the downtrodden and marginalized classes of society.

Today�s meeting was also attended by the district Panchayati Raj officer Bipin Kumar, district public relations officer (DPRO) Sanjay Kumar and electoral officer Gayatri Kumari.
