DC orders helpline number for water crisis redressal in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: In a proactive measure to address the vital issue of drinking water supply during the sweltering summer months, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal convened a crucial meeting with officials from the Urban Body and Drinking Water Sanitation Department. Emphasizing the paramount importance of ensuring uninterrupted and smooth drinking water supply, she issued clear directives to tackle water-related challenges effectively.

During the review meeting, District Magistrate Ananya Mittal underscored the significance of promptly addressing drinking water issues in both urban and remote areas. To facilitate seamless communication and swift resolution of complaints, he instructed all divisions of Municipal Bodies and the Drinking Water Sanitation Department to establish toll-free helpline numbers for public grievances related to drinking water supply. Urging officials to prioritize the provision of clean and pure drinking water, she emphasized the immediate resolution of complaints received from the general public.

The monitoring of complaint redressal will be conducted at the district level to ensure accountability and efficiency. Additionally, instructions were given to expedite the repair of defunct hand pumps in rural and municipal areas, underscoring the importance of daily review and monitoring of drinking water complaints at both district and block levels.

District Magistrate Ananya Mittal emphasized the necessity of maintaining detailed records of complaints and their resolutions, highlighting the importance of transparency and accountability in addressing public concerns. Furthermore, she stressed the need to promptly repair any obstructions to water sources, emphasizing the significance of collaborative teamwork in ensuring the smooth functioning of water supply infrastructure.

Key officials including Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, Director NEP Ajay Saw, Additional Municipal Commissioner of Mango Municipal Corporation Ranjit Lohara, District Planning Officer Arun Dwivedi, Executive Engineer of Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Jamshedpur/Adityapur, and Executive Officer of Jugsalai Municipal Council were present at the meeting.

With these proactive measures and collaborative efforts, District Magistrate Ananya Mittal aims to mitigate drinking water-related challenges and ensure the well-being of residents amidst the scorching summer season.
