Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Friday ordered closure of Sukanya Girls Hostel in Parsudih with immediate effect. He also ordered police investigation into the alleged involvement of the hostel manager in sexual assault attempt on a minor girl studying at the hostel.
Sources said a relative of the hostel manager allegedly tried to rape a minor girl at the hostel on 24th October last. Local residents and various social organizations had come out in protest of the incident and demanded arrest of the culprits.
Taking serious note of the incident, the DC directed the District Superintendent of Education and ADM Law and Order to conduct a probe into the allegations. During inquiry, it was found that the hostel was being run privately without getting permission from the education department. Government norms were also not followed by the hostel officials in running the institution, sources said.
