DC holds meeting on vote counting procedure

Jamshedpur: The deputy commissioner (DC) of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal convened a meeting with candidates and representatives of candidate contesting for the Jamshedpur Parliamentary seat.

In the meeting, the DC gave a brief outline regarding the counting procedure. It was informed in the meeting that on 16.05.14, strong room at main building of Co-operative College will be opened at 7 am and counting will start at 8 am.

At first counting of postal ballots will be carried out by the DC-cum-district returning officer at his table in the college principal�s chamber. Thereafter counting of EVM votes will commence. There will be assembly-wise arrangement of counting halls. There are six counting halls. There would be 14 counting tables along with one table for assistant returning officer (ARO) in each counting hall.

In the meeting, procedure of appointment and volume of counting agents were briefed to the candidates. It was told that counting agent should be from same PC should not bear any criminal record, should not hold security cover and should not be MP or MLA.

The procedure of counting of votes through EVM was demonstrated later by the master trainer. Thereafter team of District Administration along with candidates left for venue of counting to have a look of the arrangements made for the day of counting.

Today�s meeting was attended by the SSP Amol Venukant Homkar, SP (city) Kartik S, ADC Ganesh Kumar, SDO Prem Ranjan and other administration officials.
