DC Flags Off ‘Awareness Chariot’ for Census-2027, Disaster Safety

Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajiv Ranjan flagged off an “Awareness Chariot” from the Collectorate premises on Friday to educate the public on the Census-2027 house-listing process and seasonal disaster safety.

The specially designed outreach vehicle will travel through both rural and urban areas of East Singhbhum district, using audio announcements, street plays, and promotional materials to reach residents at the block and panchayat levels.

Focus on Census-2027 and Disaster Preparedness

The campaign aims to prepare citizens for the upcoming House Listing and Housing Enumeration exercise. The Deputy Commissioner urged residents to provide accurate information and cooperate fully with enumeration officials to ensure a smooth survey process.

Simultaneously, the chariot will disseminate critical safety protocols for seasonal hazards:

  • Heatwave Safety: The DC advised citizens to avoid outdoor movement during the afternoon, stay hydrated, and wear light cotton clothing.
  • Lightning Protection: Officials cautioned the public against standing in open fields, under trees, or near water bodies during thunderstorms.

District Officials Lead the Drive

During the launch, DC Rajiv Ranjan emphasized that public awareness is the first line of defence against seasonal hazards. “This campaign will ensure that safety information reaches every corner of the district,” he stated.
