Jamshedpur: A great number of houses in several villages of Baharagora, Dumaria, Chakulia and Ghatsila were destroyed in the recent cyclonic storm Phailin.
More than 1000 mud houses were razed down in the aftermath of the cyclone. Over a thousand families are still homeless. They neither have food nor any other necessaries.
They are awaiting help from their better-off brethren. They need tents, foodgrain, utensils, dhoti, sari and clothes. The winter season too, has started. In such a situation, these villagers need urgent help.
For this purpose, the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum-cum-chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jamshedpur chapter, Dr Amitabh Kaushal has convened a meeting of corporate representatives, social organizations and distinguished citizens at the DC Office on 31st October (Thursday) at 4.30 pm. In this meeting, discussions will be held on arranging for quick relief for the cyclone victims.
The DC has invited all corporate organizations, NGOs and distinguished citizens to attend the meeting.
