DC asks officials to explore alternatives for new parking areas in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: In a comprehensive review meeting held at the Collectorate Auditorium, Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi directed officials to improve the quality and accessibility of civic services in urban areas, with a special focus on streamlining traffic management and ensuring timely implementation of welfare schemes.

The meeting, attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhagirath Prasad, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of JNAC Krishna Kumar, Assistant Municipal Commissioners, engineers, city managers, and other staff, examined the progress of various central and state government schemes being implemented by municipal bodies.

Deputy Commissioner Satyarthi conducted a detailed item-wise review of ongoing development works, including the status of approved projects, tendering, issuance of work orders, and their execution. He emphasized that all schemes must be completed with quality within stipulated timelines to benefit urban residents effectively. He also instructed officials to boost revenue collection from internal sources.

To address traffic congestion and ensure smoother urban mobility, the Deputy Commissioner issued specific instructions: Take penal action against illegal parking, Implement online traffic challan system, Explore alternatives for new parking areas, Organize the Mango bus stand efficiently, Issue tenders for the development of designated parking spaces and Strengthening of civic amenities stressed.

Reiterating the urban administration’s core responsibility, Satyarthi emphasized effective delivery of basic services such as clean drinking water, road maintenance, drainage, sanitation, solid waste management, and urban transport. He directed departments to coordinate their operations and conduct regular inspections to monitor service quality.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), the DC instructed officials to expedite restoration of civic amenities in the completed housing units in Birsanagar and initiate the handover process to beneficiaries. He underlined that municipal bodies must ensure timely and effective delivery of scheme benefits to eligible citizens.

Highlighting concerns over unregulated construction, Satyarthi called for stringent monitoring of structures that deviate from approved building maps. He directed immediate action against such violations to curb illegal and haphazard construction.

To facilitate quicker resolution of public grievances, the Deputy Commissioner advocated for the development of a robust digital complaint redressal system. He called for the integration of online complaint registration, tracking, and resolution to ensure prompt responses to citizens’ concerns.

The meeting also reviewed the status of applications approved under the PM Micro Food Industry Upgradation Scheme (PMFME) and PM Swanidhi. The DC urged departments to coordinate with banks to expedite loan distribution and provide timely financial support to beneficiaries.

Progress under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) and Mukhyamantri Shramik Yojana was assessed, with officials directed to maintain transparency and adopt a target-based approach. He also asked municipal bodies to take charge of water supply schemes’ operation and maintenance, easing the burden on the drinking water and sanitation department.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Satyarthi called for a citizen-centric approach and committed efforts from all urban bodies to ensure effective implementation of schemes for the benefit of every urban resident.
