D.B.M.S. College Students Showcase Storytelling Prowess at ‘Spin a Yarn’ Contest

Jamshedpur: D.B.M.S. College of Education students competed in the “Battle of Books – Spin a Yarn” storytelling event on Monday, April 27. The competition aimed to foster a love for reading while refining the narrative and imaginative skills of future educators.

Creative Storytelling and Evaluation

Chief judges Aruna Jha and Rotarian Sinchita Roy Choudhury evaluated the participating teams on their originality, expression, and narrative structure. Anchors Ishika and Swastik set a high-energy tone for the day as multiple teams took the stage to captivate the audience with distinct storytelling styles.

During the session, Aruna Jha demonstrated storytelling techniques herself, emphasizing the importance of voice modulation in this “ancient art.” Judge Sinchita Roy Choudhury further encouraged the college to maintain the momentum of such creative programming.

Award Highlights

The college recognized several teams for their exceptional performances:

  • Plot Twist Titans: Gudiya Kumari, Sonam Kumari, and Kareena Kumari (for unexpected storylines).
  • Spool of Unity: Amrita Kumari, Sarika Rani, and Simran Chhatriaan (for emotional cohesion).
  • Voice of Wonder: Arundhati Gupta, Manpreet Kaur, Pragya, and Priyadarshini (for imaginative narration).
  • Master Weaver: Aartika Jyoti, Tanishka Yadav, and Anjali Kumari (for narrative complexity).
  • Page Turner Prodigy: Unnati Kumari, Kamalkant Sharma, and Yogesh Kumar Ojha (for realistic storytelling).
  • Tapestry of Tales: Kumar Saurabh, Raja Dongraae, and Chandan Kumar Pandey (for overall presentation).

Leadership and Management Support

Principal Dr. Joohi Samarpita and Vice Principal Dr. Monika Uppal led the effort to organize the event, supported by College Secretary Sripriya Dharamarajan and Co-secretary Sudha Dilip.

Dr. Samarpita extended special thanks to librarians Kajal Mahto and Angel Munda for their consistent efforts in coordinating the “Battle of Books” series. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Swastika Bhattacharya, celebrating the successful platform provided for students to refine their professional and creative talents.
