DAV Bistupur student Dhruv Prakash becomes Jamshedpur topper in JEE Advanced with AIR 385

Aims for career in Mathematical Research

No social media, 5-6 hrs of self-study, discipline key to success: JEE Advanced topper

Jamshedpur, June 2: Dhruv Prakash has brought laurels to Jamshedpur by securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 385 in the prestigious JEE Advanced 2025 examination. A resident of Srinath Global Village in Adityapur and a student of DAV Public School, Bistupur, Dhruv has emerged as the Kolhan topper in this highly competitive exam.

Earlier, he had also performed exceptionally in JEE Main 2025, where he secured an impressive AIR 489. His academic journey has been consistently outstanding, with a score of 98.6% in Class 10 and 94.8% in Class 12.

With a dream to pursue engineering at IIT Delhi, Dhruv aims to take up B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing. His long-term goal is to build a career in mathematical research. “My result was as expected,” said Dhruv. “I have always believed in disciplined preparation. Students should not stress over marks but focus on studying sincerely.”

He credits his success to his parents, teachers, and his own dedication. “Consistency and discipline have been the key. I used to wake up at 4 am, plan my entire day, and divide my study time between numerical practice in the morning, theory in the afternoon, and revision in the evening,” he explained.

Dhruv prepared for the JEE with a structured routine that included five to six hours of self-study at home, in addition to school and coaching classes. He believes that time management and focused study are crucial for success. “If students make proper use of time at school, home, and coaching, and study each subject regularly with a set time limit, they will surely succeed,” he advised.

Despite being an academically focused student, Dhruv makes time for leisure. He enjoys playing chess and spending time with his family and friends. Notably, he does not use social media except for school and coaching WhatsApp groups. “I don’t pay attention to distractions. My focus has always been on my studies,” he said.

Dhruv’s academic discipline is matched by his simple lifestyle. He prefers home-cooked meals and is conscious of his health. His native village is Modiha in Sasaram district, Bihar, under Nokha police station. He plans to celebrate his achievement with a family trip to Dubai, a destination he has long wished to visit after years of focused preparation without any travel.

In case he does not get his preferred course at IIT Delhi, Dhruv has set his second choice as B.Tech in Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay. He is also open to pursuing a master’s degree from abroad if needed to further his research aspirations.

Dhruv’s father, Ram Niranjan Singh, works as a manager at Tata Steel, while his mother Priyanka is a homemaker. Expressing his joy, his father said, “This success is a result of Dhruv’s hard work and dedication. We are extremely proud of him.” His mother added, “Dhruv has always been a calm, disciplined, and intelligent child. He never needed to be told what to do—he always planned his studies on his own.”

Dhruv’s younger brother, Dhairya, a Class VII student, is also inspired by his elder brother’s achievement. “My brother has set a milestone, and I will also cross it one day!” he said proudly.
