Cyclone Dana triggers heavy rain alert in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, October 24: The severe cyclone, Dana, formed in the Bay of Bengal, is swiftly approaching the coast. It is expected to make landfall in Odisha around 2 am on Thursday night, moving towards the West Bengal Sea Islands by the morning of October 25, with wind speeds reaching up to 120 km per hour. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings for heavy rain and strong winds, particularly affecting Odisha and West Bengal, with widespread impact expected in Jharkhand and Bihar.

A heavy rain alert has been issued for Kolhan’s East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts on Thursday, with wind speeds of up to 60 km per hour. Light to moderate rain is also forecast for Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega, Gumla, Lohardaga, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Koderma, and Dhanbad, with winds reaching 30-40 km per hour. Heavy rain is also predicted for Kolhan on Friday, with moderate rainfall expected in Ranchi, Gumla, Lohardaga, Ramgarh, and Khunti. Several trains have been canceled, and fishermen have been advised to avoid the riverbanks.
