Jamshedpur : In order to curb rising cybercrimes in the city, Jharkhand Police have decided to set a cyber forensic lab (CFL) in the steel city shortly. The CFL has been planned beside the Cyber police station on the Bistupur police station premises.
Revealing about the project, East Singhbhum senior superintendent of police, Anoop Birtharay said that an MoU has been signed between the Jharkhand police and a Delhi-based company for setting up CFL at five cities in the state, including Jamshedpur.
” The move will help to curb cases of cybercrime. The proposed CFL will run with the help of the software experts having expertise in cybercrime investigation. As result of such facility, the cyber related crime like illegal withdrawing cash from ATM or bank accounts will be not only detected successfully, but can also be solved in very short time,” said Birtharay.
He said the other city where CFL will be set up in the state are Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Hazaribag. The senior SP informed that work for setting up the CFL at the Bistupur-based cyber police station has already begun and it will start functioning toward the end of the month.
A senior police official pointed out that people should be aware of the recruitment processes of major companies in order to avoid being duped. They should also come forward to prefer a complaint rather than withdrawing into a shell and being secretive about the whole incident. Their complaints will help saving other people from becoming victims, he added.
I welcome the move of police to strengthen mechanism for controlling cybercrime. With the city going hi-tech, cybercrime cases are also on the rise. It is high time that the all the police officers and policemen have to be computer savvy so that a criminal can be located and nabbed without making any further delay. The cyber cell should spread its wings to various police stations and police offices, including the police control room so that after tracking the location of a caller, the police action team on the other end must be ready to act instantly, said a social worker.
