Ramgarh: A significant amount of funds allocated for development schemes in various panchayats of Patratu block, Ramgarh, has gone missing, thanks to the nefarious activities of cyber criminals. The incident came to light on Saturday, leaving Panchayat servants and block heads in shock. In response to the unauthorized withdrawals, several Panchayat officials have filed primary reports at the police station.
According to reports, the affected Panchayats operate their accounts with HDFC Bank. Upon updating their accounts at the bank, officials discovered that funds earmarked for Panchayat development schemes had been fraudulently withdrawn through an ATM located in Kolkata.
The revelation of this cybercrime has prompted block heads and Panchayat officials to take immediate action. They are actively engaged in the process of updating their accounts and securing their financial information. The incident underscores the vulnerability of digital transactions to cyber threats and emphasizes the need for enhanced security measures to safeguard public funds.
