Ranchi, July 4: Laying stress at making 25 seed villages in every district, chief secretary Rajbala Verma on Monday directed agriculture and krishi vikas kendra officers to make their respective districts self-sufficient in seed production.
She said that every seed village should expand to at least 50 acres. Laying stress on foundation seed production, Verma said that responsibility for ARYA members should be fixed to implement schemes as per Krishi Gram Yojana.
She said that a proper profile should be prepared of availability of seeds and land to be sown. She said it while addressing agriculture, ATMA and KVK officers through video conferencing.
The CS directed to move to all panchayats and fix the responsibility of ARYA members and identify 8-9 lakh hectare of barren land to be cultivated. She said that all barren land should be profiled and availability and requirement of seeds should be determined. She appealed to use tractor for deep cultivation.
Verma said that maximum farmers should be connected with Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana on mission mode. Camps should be held on July 11 and 12 at Packs level. The role of krishak mitras and jan sevaks should be defined for distributing seeds and connecting beneficiaries with PMFBY.
It should be noted that 10 lakh farmers are targeted to be benefitted under PMFBY by July 31 and 1.14 lakh farmers have been insured so far.
She directed that application should be placed from ATMA of every district for community radio connection so that farmers can be connected with radio.
Every district will get band-with separately and farmers can be conversed directly.
