Jamshedpur: A major crackdown on the illegal sale of tobacco products around schools and colleges was conducted in Jamshedpur, following instructions from District Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal. The investigation campaign was led by Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Shatabdi Majumdar, focusing on paan kiosks, and shops in the vicinity of educational institutions.
The raid covered areas around Graduate College, Tagore Academy, and the Collectorate campus, where tobacco products were seized from various shops. The authorities imposed fines on the shopkeepers and took immediate steps to destroy the seized items. A detailed seizure list will be prepared for further action.

SDO Shatabdi Majumdar emphasised, “Selling tobacco products near schools and colleges is prohibited, and strict action will be taken against violators. This investigation campaign will continue, and we will ensure that such illegal activities are curbed.”

In addition to tobacco sales, tea samples were collected from tea shops based on complaints of adulteration. These samples will be sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Namkum for examination. The investigation team, including Executive Magistrate Chandrajit Singh and Food Safety Officer Manjar Hussain, is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community through these regulatory actions.
