Chaotic situation at Tatanagar Railway Station: Passengers face multiple issues

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur: The Tatanagar Railway Station, which holds an A1 plus grade, is grappling with multiple operational issues, leading to chaos and passenger inconvenience. Despite the station’s high status, several fundamental systems are being ignored and officers seem to be turning a blind eye, exacerbating the situation.

One of the major problems observed at the station is the illegal collection of money in the drop lane of the parking area. Despite South East Railway GM Anil Kumar Mishra’s clarification that no money should be collected for vehicles stopping briefly in the drop lane, parking contractors are charging passengers, including those in autos. Mishra had stated that only vehicles that stop for more than a limited time should incur a charge, yet this regulation is being flouted, with money being collected indiscriminately.

Additionally, the in and out gates outside the station are consistently blocked by autos, creating severe difficulties for passengers trying to enter or exit the station. This congestion occurs right in front of the RPF post, but no action has been taken to address the situation. Passengers have expressed frustration over the lack of enforcement, which compromises their safety and convenience.

Another ongoing issue is the unauthorized shops operating in the taxi stand area of the station. The area, designated for taxi operations, has become a hub for illegal shops that are repeatedly set up, even after authorities have removed them following public complaints. This cycle of unauthorized vending continues to disrupt the proper functioning of the taxi stand.

Furthermore, the restaurant on platform number 1, which was inaugurated just two days ago, has failed to meet expectations. Passengers hoping for a decent meal have been disappointed, as the restaurant only offers chips and biscuits instead of a full breakfast menu. This lack of basic services adds to the frustration of travellers, who were hoping for a higher standard of service at a station of this calibre.

Passengers and local authorities are calling for immediate intervention to restore order and improve the overall experience at Tatanagar Railway Station. With these ongoing issues left unaddressed, the station’s status as a major transit point remains in jeopardy.
