CPS Adityapur organizes Filariasis Prevention Program

Jamshedpur, September 22: Central Public School (CPS) Adityapur successfully organized a special health program on filariasis prevention for its students, with support from health professionals from the Community Health Center, Gamharia (Government of Jharkhand). The team included Mohammad Nasimuddin, Anand Bhushan Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Munna Tamsoy, Muniram Mahato, Amna Khatoon, Kalpana Mahato, and Shobha Devi.

The program aimed to raise awareness among students about filariasis and provide preventive medication. During the program, 541 students were administered the recommended doses of ivermectin, diethylcarbamazine (DEC), or albendazole under the supervision of trained health workers.

Health experts highlighted the role of community participation in filariasis prevention. They explained that the disease is spread through mosquitoes and can lead to lifelong disability if untreated. Students were encouraged to act as “awareness ambassadors,” spreading information about sanitation, mosquito control, and regular health checkups to their families and communities.

The school management expressed gratitude to the Jharkhand Government’s Health Department and the Gamharia Block Health Team for their support. This initiative reflects the school’s commitment to sustained health awareness and preventive care, ensuring the well-being of its students and promoting a healthier community.
