Jamshedpur, Nov 11: The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) has hailed the leftist show in the Bihar Assembly polls. The party’s Jamshedpur leader Omprakash Singh said that the grand alliance had sanctioned 19 seats to the left combine in which CPI (ML) won 12 seats. In addition the CPI and CPI (M) bagged two seats each taking the total tally of the left combine to 16.

Omprakash observed that candidates who shed crocodile tears for the oppressed masses had been shown the door. “Candidates like Pappu Yadav and Upendra Kushwaha are like foxes who make a show of being the Messiah of the oppressed and downtrodden segments but carry ambition under their sleeves. Their actual character reflected when people shunned their tall talks and showed them the door,” Omprakash Singh stated.

Taking a swipe at the Congress, the CPI (ML) leader said that had not the Congress stubbornly demanded to fight for 70 seats and instead settled for 30-40 seats, the whole picture would have been different. “The Grand Alliance would have emerged victorious them. It would certainly have formed the government. the Congress’ final report card read a mere 19 out of the 70 seats it contested. The Congress should give this humiliation a deep thought.”

The CPI (ML) had put up Jamshedpur’s Chhota Govindpur resident Sashi Yadav as its candidate for the Digha Vidhan Sabha Grand Alliance but she lost. She lost in the initial rounds. Omprakash, explaining the defeat said, “She was a new face in the constituency. That is why Sashi Yadav did not get the due response of the electorate. The party will definitely review the result. Actually, the contribution of Sashi’s parents to our party has been tremendous and giving her a ticket to contest the Bihar Assembly elections from Digha was a token of respect to them. In fact, Sashi too has been very active in students’ movements.”
