Jamshedpur, Nov 11: A three-day Swadeshi Mela based on the theme, ‘Vocal for Local’ got underway today at the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) auditorium. The fair was jointly inaugurated by SCCI president Ashok Bhalotia, CAIT national secretary Suresh Sonthalia, SCCI vice president Manav Kedia, secretary Anil Modi, Ramakant Gupta, Nitesh Dhut and Rajiv Agrawal. The Swadeshi Mela that was inaugurated on Wednesday will continue upto Friday, November 13. The timings have been fixed between 11 am and 7 pm on each of the three days.
In his inaugural address, Ashok Bhalotia said, “In keeping with the concept of a self dependent India, SCCI has always encouraged local manufacturers and craftsmen. As a sequel to thi, we have been organizing fairs on the occasion of Dipawali. The stalls are displayed with earthen lamps of many designs made by local clay artisans and hand crafted materials by women for home décor.”
Suresh Sonthalia observed, “This fair is aimed at further strengthening the movement for a self reliant India. All items put up in the various stalls here are handmade. We should opt for indigenous products and boycott Chinese goods. This Swadeshi Mela is a strong pillar of Swadeshi movement.”
Manav Kedia appealed to visitors to observe all COVID preventive protocols while in the Mela campus. He said that all necessary measures had been adopted by the organizers to ensure a safe atmosphere. Anil Modi said that apart from clay lamps, many other decorative materials were up for sale in the various stalls and added that allproducts on display were handcrafted.
Among those present at the inaugural were Vishwanath Sharma, Sushma Agrawal, Pramila Munda, Vinod Kumar and the stall owners.
