Jamshedpur, Nov 11: Police are yet to get a clue about the death of a 43-year-old man who was found lying fatally injured near his house at Telco police station area late on Tuesday night. The victim identified as Prabhat Tiwary, was taken to MGM Medical College Hospital, where he was declared as brought dead.
Tiwary who was a resident of Bajrangi Bagan in Telco was an alcoholic and had a fight with a local shop-keeper at about 11 pm on Tuesday, leading the shop-keepers and others to assault him.
According to sources, the victim who would work at a private company was severely injured by being assaulted by the shop-keepers and others. As a result of the assault, he had fallen unconscious. The family members of the victim were informed about the incident, leading them to rush him to the medical college hospital.
Soon after the incident, a police party reached MGM Medical College Hospital and seized the body for getting a Covid test and also for the autopsy.
OC, Telco police station, Akhilesh Kumar Mandal confirmed about the death of the man at Bajrangi Bagan area of Telco in the night. ” We are investigating the incident. The man was weak and had indulged in a quarrel with a local shop-keeper at Bajrangi Bagan and had abused the shop-keeper. In a reaction to his behaviour, the shop-keeper was assaulted with blows along with some others. But suddenly he fell down and succumbed to his internal injury. Later the family members had rushed the man to the medical college hospital where he was declared as brought dead,” said the OC.
