Jamshedpur: Seraikela-Kharsawan police here on Tuesday claimed to have busted a racket of peddlers by arresting two persons and confiscating 51.7 grams of brown sugar from their possession.
The SP Indrajeet Mahatha said a team of district police was set up to nab the accused persons, identified as Mohammad Mubarak alias Motu and Ashok Kumar Mahato, both residents of Adityapur.
The two were caught during a raid conducted in Adityapur Busti. They were reportedly involved in the sale of brown sugar. They were caught after a chase, the SP said.
An FIR was lodged against the two under Section 290 and 34 of IPC and Section 8 and 21 B of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The SP said that the police investigation will continue to arrest and book all other members of the racket who are still at large.
He said the police team was collecting information about the other members by interrogating the arrested persons.
